The PSAT/NMSQT Preliminary SAT®/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a shorter version of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) administered by high school each year in October. The PSAT measures critical reading, verbal reasoning, math problem-solving skills, and writing skills. It also assists students with their college and career planning and serves as the qualifying test for scholarships awarded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The PSAT and scholarship eligibility is geared for juniors, but interested sophomores can also take the PSAT for practice.
