All students in grades 5-12 will be assigned a Chromebook.  Students are assigned the same Chromebook for four years with new devices assigned in 5th and 9th grade.   Parents can purchase an annual insurance policy to cover repair costs for damaged school Chromebooks - details found here.  The 2024-25 school year insurance fee is $20 and insurance may be purchased at any time during the year. The fee will increase to $25 on February 1, 2025.

Families are asked to review the Severe Weather School Closing Information for details on how the district monitors weather conditions and makes decisions regarding school closings.  In order to promptly receive information regarding school closings, please make sure that you have opted in to receive emergency text alerts from the district. If you haven't already, please manually opt-in by texting "YES" to 79041. It is important to opt-in before a closure or emergency situation arises.

Our district nurse and school resource officer held a very informative presentation on January 24 during which they shared their knowledge about medications, drugs, and gun safety. The slideshow they used to summarize their information is available and a video of the presentation can be viewed on YouTube. 

The Grafton School District and GO Riteway utilize an innovative mobile device app for transportation called Here Comes the Bus®. This app allows you to view the real-time location of your child’s school bus on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. Our school district ID #29854

There are many reports in the media about the driver shortage in the school bus industry and the resulting challenges with getting students transported to and from school. Our District has been fortunate thus far that Riteway has been able to procure enough drivers to transport our students to and from school each day. However, the driver shortage has resulted in the consolidation of routes and longer route times than in previous years. 

One concern that Riteway and the District have is that with just enough drivers to staff all of the routes, any issue with drivers being absent due to illness or other factors could result in some routes not being run. While we want to avoid any disruption in transportation service, we recognize the potential for this to occur and want to get out ahead of any potential disruptions that might occur so that families are as prepared as possible in the event there are disruptions in service.

Should there be a disruption in transportation service we will immediately let affected families know so that they are aware and have the opportunity to procure other means of transportation to or from school. Any families that are unable to arrange alternative transportation will be serviced as soon as the regular routes are completed and a bus becomes available to run the affected route(s). Notification will be sent out to affected families as soon as a bus is dispatched to run the route. Unfortunately, providing exact pick up times will not be possible as there could be numerous families that arrange for alternative transportation, leading to a quicker route run than usual.

The District appreciates your patience and understanding with the unprecedented challenges that have impacted the student transportation industry.

In Skyward Family Access, KES, WES and JLMS parents can access the School Directory online for contact information of other families. It appears as an option in the left menu called "School Directory" and lists all guardian names, address, phone numbers, and email addresses for every student in the school. Parents can select which contact information they want to share in the online school directory.  Note: The online directory is NOT active for Grafton High School students/families.
