Global Scholars students from Grafton High School and Cedarburg High School are partnering with the Rotary Club of Cedarburg-Grafton to host a 4-mile walk on Saturday, May 17, to raise awareness for the global water crisis. Students are hoping to collect at least $7,500 in donations to fund a new well in a developing country with the support of the Rotary Club, which is working with students to help them reach their goals. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 2 billion people worldwide do not have access to clean drinking water. Additionally, 842,000 die annually from water-related illnesses. The walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Cedarburg High School and includes 2 loops of 2 miles each, which is the distance that people in developing countries walk on average daily to gather water for their families and communities. There will be several water stations along the route, sponsored by local businesses and organizations. There is no entry fee to participate in the walk. However, donations are encouraged at https://walk4water.hhi.org/cedarburg-wi-2025. Donations will also be accepted at the event.
