4K and 5K Enrollment

Prospective 4K students may enroll at the district office (1900 Washington Street) weekdays from 7:30am-4:00pm. Any prospective 5K students for the 2019-20 school year who are not currently enrolled in a Grafton school should also enroll. Current 4K students at Kennedy Elementary or Woodview Elementary do not need to re-enroll for 5K.

District students are assigned to either Kennedy or Woodview according to these designated attendance areas.  However, in the new building configurations in 2018, Kennedy Elementary School will have two 4K classrooms and Woodview Elementary School will have one 4K classroom. For this reason, some students who live within the Woodview attendance area will be assigned to 4K at Kennedy Elementary School.  A lottery system will be used for 4K placement of these students. Parents may also state a preference for the morning or afternoon session of 4K.  If requests for one session are greater than the space available, student names will be put in a lottery drawing to determine which session they will attend.  Please see the 4K Information and FAQs for more information about the lottery.

To enroll in four-year-old kindergarten in the 2019-20 school year, students must be 4 years of age on or before September 1, 2019. To enroll in five-year-old kindergarten in the 2019-20 school year, students must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2019.  The following information should be brought to the school office to enroll a child in kindergarten:

  • Child's original birth certificate for verification of name and birth date (state law requires the original certificate, not a copy)
  • Information to verify residency
    • For home owners:  Closing statement OR mortgage statement OR tax bill AND recent utility bill
    • For renters:  Current rental/lease agreement (including owner/manager name and telephone number and lease start and termination dates) AND canceled check showing payment of rent for a current period

Forms for kindergarten enrollment are posted below.  The following must be completed: the enrollment form (to be completed by parents ahead of time and brought to district office), and the Student Health Exam and Student Eye Health Exam forms (to be completed by parents and health care professionals and submitted to the school, along with immunization records, prior to the start of the 2019-20 school year).

The Grafton School District will offer midday bus transportation to all 4K students to and from all childcare centers that are located within our school district boundaries, even if the center is located outside the student's attendance boundary.

What this means is that the Grafton School District will offer to transport any 4K student...
 - to a childcare center at 11:05am following the morning session of 4K.
- from a childcare center to attend the afternoon session of 4K which begins at 12:35pm.
This transportation arrangement has been created in order to offer our families and students a higher level of convenience and access to a fantastic educational experience in the Grafton School District.

The Grafton School District office is located at: 1900 Washington Street, Grafton
