1:1 Chromebooks

To all 3rd and 4th grade Grafton School District parents,

Chromebooks were sent home today with 3rd and 4th grade students. I wanted to get a quick message out to you right now but do expect more information next week regarding your child’s Chromebook.

The Chromebooks have a built in internet content filter provided by Cipafilter. The level of filtering enabled meets the requirements of the Children’t Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
The Google safe search policy is enforced on the Google search page.
Student Google documents and emails are monitored by a content filter called Gaggle.
I would recommend that you store and allow use the Chromebook in a common area in your house and not allow use in your child’s bedroom.
You will need wifi access in your home to connect the Chromebook to the internet. More details will be provided early next week for families that do not have wifi access.
Charge the device only as needed. We have found that if the device is continually charged, the battery life will be shortened.
A repair process will be set up next week for the handling of accidental breakage. If you need help connecting to your home network or have other technical issues, please email our helpdesk for assistance. ( helpdesk@grafton.k12.wi.us )

Sincerely and good health to you,
