RISE (Programming for Advanced Learners)

K-12 RISE Programming for Advanced Learning in the School District of Grafton meets the Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) guidelines for PK-12 gifted and talented education. RISE stands for "Reaching Individual Student Excellence." In order for students to make the best use of their talents, there must be an optimal match between their environment, their readiness, and their pace of development. Within a framework of open communication between school and home, we can provide exceptional and innovative programming that addresses the needs of our most able learners. The Grafton School District focuses on programming, rather than a program, based on student need, readiness, and interest. Programming is fluid and is based on continual assessment of student needs, progress and skill development. This philosophy acknowledges that children develop at different rates and that potential and ability are dynamic. RISE programming provides robust learning opportunities at a pace and depth appropriate to each student's capabilities. We are always appreciative of parent input. Parents/guardians should complete the RISE Parent Recommendation Form if they believe their child is performing well above grade level or demonstrating exceptional strengths or talents and would like their child’s performance and achievement to be reviewed.
