Ships Crossing

ships crossingDescription: An individual will traverse while walking between or on the outside of the crossing ropes. The object is to get to the other side of the line with using the two ropes to help assist and guide one across.


Set Up: Two diagonally crossing multi-line ropes are connected from post to the foot cable, at points two-thirds the distance from the poles. A belay cable runs approximately nine to ten feet above and parallel to the foot cable.
Special Instruction/Safety:
• Have spotters assist the climber until they are off of the ladder onto the pole.
• Have spotters assist climber in landing on the ground safely on their feet.
• Instructor double checks to make sure ropes are tied properly
• Make sure participants do not use the rope to swing on, only to assist in getting across
