GHS Boys & Girls Track and Field Team
GHS is sending 13 athletes to the WIAA Division 1 State Track & Field Meet, to be held June 3rd and 4th at UW-LaCrosse. Please congratulate these GHS State Qualifiers: Cathy Brunette, Anya Dilahunt, Katelyn Gallun, Ryan Grange, Sara Grange, Sean Hanley, Carrie Herian, Marcus Hill, Erick Huertas, Stefan Lundgren, Emily Schreiner, Justin Tomashek, Jason Zahn.
National Merit Scholarship
Congratulations to Josh Eggold and Dan Pampel who were named National Merit Scholarship Finalists. Of the 1.4 million students who took the PSAT, 15,000 students were named Finalists. From the Finalists, 8400 students will be selected to receive a National Merit Scholarship. These selections will be made in April, May, and July. Good luck to both young men in their pursuit of educational excellence.
The team of seniors Mitch Sommerfeldt & Ryan Stauske placed 7th overall in the Ford-AAA Student Auto Skills national finals held Monday & Tuesday in Detroit. Congratulations to Mitch and Ryan and their coach Carl Hader!
Our very own Abby Cibulka finished in 1ST PLACE in the state of Wisconsin for the Film Category in the Reflections Contest!!!
In addition, Michael Seybold received an HONORABLE MENTION in the Visual Arts category.....only 5 individuals were given "Honorable Mentions"..over 500 projects were submitted in his category. These two students will attend an Awards Ceremony in April at the Blue Harbor Resort! Way to go GES!!!!
National Honor Society

Last year's amazing record-breaking 7th grade engineering tower was surpassed today by Monica Geiser and Ashlyn Kamke. Please join me in congratulating these stupendous students on their new holding record of 28 textbooks held by a structure made of nothing except standard straws and standard straight pins! Their final structure measured within set limitations and held each additional book for the full requisite 10 seconds between each book. They are incredible!
WIAA Division 2 State Meet

The meet will be held this Friday, February 18th at the UW-Natatorium. Diving is at 2:30 and Swimming is at 6:30pm. In addition, Al Nennig was recognized in today's Journal/Sentinel as their Boys High School Athlete of the Week! Best of Luck to these young men!
Love 4 Lexi Foundation - Essay Contest Winners
Congratulations to Emily Mueller (6th Grade) and Marina Remington (8th Grade) who submitted essays to the Love 4 Lexi Foundation. The students wrote excellent essays on the importance of organ donation. The essays emphasized the positive impact donations have had on their lives and their families. The foundation will be awarding both classroom teachers Donna McCann (6th grade) and Mike Maloney (8th Grade) with Smartboards for their classrooms.
Art Department Accomplishments
Congratulations to the following art students for acceptance and awards in the 2011 Scholastic Art Awards Show.
This is a state wide competition and the gold key award winners will advance to the national competition in Washington DC.
The show is at the Milwaukee Art Museum and runs thru March 6th.
