DAR Essay Winner
Congratulations to Grace Birch, a 7th grader at JLMS, who was the 7th grade first place winner for the DAR Essay contest for Ozaukee County. Grace will receive her award for this achievement at the awards ceremony in June. Grace's essay, titled Far From Home, was written from the perspective of a young boy in the first year of the Jamestown Settlement.


60th annual Ozaukee County Art Show
Congratulations to five GHS art students that won ribbons at the 60th annual Ozaukee County Art Show, currently on exhibition in the Cedarburg Cultural Center. You still have time to enjoy the exhibit, the show runs thru April 29th.

Herb Kohl Initiative Scholarship winner

Kimberly Burmeister, a member of the class of 2007, has been named a Herb Kohl Initiative Scholarship winner. Initiative Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 are awarded each year to 100 graduating high schools students.


Technicians of Tomorrow
Ben Wiese and Dan Weeks win at the "Technicians of Tomorrow" regional competition February 1st at MATC. They have earned a place to compete in New York City this April for the national finals.

American Legion Winners
Mathias Fischer (8th grade) was a first place winner in Category 3 for his essay: My role as an American Citizen and will receive the $100 savings bond.  Ana Mercado (6th grade) placed second in Category 3 and will receive a $50 savings bond. This year's participation was excellent with well over 300 total entries in the contest. Melanie Parchim (KES 3rd grade) was was a first place winner for her poster.  Abby Hillner (GES 1st grade) was a first place winner in category 1 for her drawing: My role as an American Citizen. Abby will receive a $100 savings bond. 
Hannah Weber (GES 4th grade) placed second in category 2 for her essay: My role as an American Citizen.
Hannah will receive a $50 savings bond.


GHS Senior qualifies for the WIAA State Gymnastics Meet
Ali Pfeiffer advanced in Vaulting on February 26 and will compete at the State Meet in Wisconsin Rapids on March 2.


GHS Wrestlers
Congratulations to GHS Wrestlers T.J. Weissinger (215 pounds) and T. J. Stolp-Apel (112 pounds), as the qualified this weekend for the WIAA Division 2 State Wrestling Tournament. They will begin in Madison this Thursday (February 22nd). Best of luck to these young men and Coach Mike Dodge!

Delta Kappa Gamma Chi Chapter Literary and Illustration Contest
Michael Rathke (KES 3rd grade) was a first place winner in the Delta Kappa Gamma Chi Chapter Ozaukee County Literary and Illustration Contest. His story will advance to state competition. Mackenzie Radtke (KES 4th grade) was a first place winner in the Delta Kappa Gamma Chi Chapter Literary and Illustration Contest. Her story will also advance to state competition. Jake Grams (JLMS 7th grade) won second place in the Delta Kappa Gamma Contest. He will be honored along with the other winners at the Cedarburg Cultural Center on Tuesday, March 13.


Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle
Austin Long (4th grade GES) was a winner in the Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle contest. The First Lady visited Grafton Elementary on Tuesday, February 20th to talk with the fourth grade students and give Austin some prizes.
