Wisconsin Forward Exam
- Grade 2-8, English 9 and Algebra
- Administered three times a year - fall, winter, and spring
- Areas tested: Reading, Language, and Math
Wisconsin students in grades 3 through 8 take the Forward Exam. This assessment will be administered in English language arts and mathematics in grades 3 through 8, in science in grades 4 and 8, and in social studies in grades 4, 8, and 10.
PALS (Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening)
The State of Wisconsin requires assessment of the reading readiness of all children enrolled in four-year-old kindergarten to second grade. Individual school districts are allowed to select the assessment used. The Grafton School District uses PALS, a research-based screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring tool, to assess reading readiness.
ACT High School Assessments
The Wisconsin High School Assessments are comprised of the ACT Aspire Early High School assessment for grades 9 and 10 students, the ACT Plus Writing for grade 11 students, and the ACT WorkKeys for grade all students. All students are administered these assessments except for the 1% of students with significant cognitive disabilities who are assessed with an alternate assessment, the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM).
